Areas of Study
|FOR THE SPEAKER:|
|Voice Training Project is dedicated to providing instruction and consultation to individuals whose professions require excellence of the speaking voice. These include: those who give speeches and talks, television and radio anchors, stage and film actors, as well as other professionals who are committed to superior vocal delivery and persuasive communication.|
|AREAS OF STUDY:|
|The needs of my clients typically fall into two categories:|
|1. THE MECHANICS OF VOCAL PRODUCTION|
|The mechanics of vocal production relate to breathing, diction, resonance, volume, range and vocal variety.
In this context, I specialize in the reduction of accents and regionalisms.
|2. THE PRINICPLES OF ORAL INTERPRETATION|
|The principles of oral interpretation relate to oratorical notions such as structuring, intonation patterns, dynamics, phrasing, style, tone and gesture.
In this context, I specialize in speechwriting and media consultation.
Also Available: I am experienced in supporting this training with physical work that helps the client to maintain optimal posture. For more: FUNdaMENTALS Body Project
|Clients have included anchors from KRON TV, National Public Radio (NPR), KCBS Radio; speakers for Mercedes Benz, Hewlett-Packard, Chevron, Mitsubishi and Pacific Bell; speakers from major universities and a wide variety of educational and political concerns; stage and film actors from around the world.|
|FOR THE SINGER:|
|Voice Training Project also specializes in interpretation skills for singers. This instruction is designed to support the singer whose formal vocal training has not included systematic practice of the dramatic skills. The student is provided with both coaching and long-term tools for building considered, inventive and memorable performances.
I bring to this work a lifetime of diction study and performing, years of piano and cello study, years of language study (French, Italian, Japanese), over 25 years of voice and speech teaching, and six years of bel canto study with soprano Christine Sanders, M.A. Voice, now on the faculty at the University of New Mexico.
|AREAS OF STUDY:|
|Study may address areas such as character creation, text analysis and oral interpretation in the particular context of music.
